Branding Tips for Nonprofits - Learn how to Stand Out in the Crowd
Does Your Local Community Know About You?
Are The Brands From The Larger Nonprofits Getting All the Attention?
On February 13, 2013, Simon Dixon, CEO of Idea Engineering, spoke to a group of nonprofit leaders gathered at the Santa Barbara Foundation. Following is a summary of some of the important tips on branding he shared with the group.
What is your brand?
Whether for a famous shoe company or a local nonprofit, the brand is always the “why” inside the head – and wallet—of the customer/client. Why should the customer/client do business with you? Are you speaking their language or yours?
How Does Your Brand Set You Apart?
First, figure out who you are and how you are different from all the others. Let your passion show. People buy into passion—yours. So let them see the flame of your passion. People buy because of passion, but you must follow the passion with rational logic.
Does Your Brand Make People Feel Good?
A successful brand gives us permission to feel good about ourselves because we feel good about the particular company or nonprofit. An example is the expert way President Obama branded himself during the election—especially the first one. He allowed people to feel good about themselves by feeling good about him.
Do You Make a Difference in Your Community?
Keep raising the bar higher. Create a bar that only you can jump over. All answers should lead to you. Your customer/client should know why his/her life is better because you are in it.
