Friendship Center
Friendship Center’s Mission Statement
Friendship Center’s mission is to preserve and enrich the quality of life for aging and dependent adults through innovative programs that value the dignity and worth of every person. We provide respite, support and education, enabling families to continue to be engaged in their community, careers and commitments.
State-licensed adult day services
Friendship Center provides state-licensed adult day services Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, serving individuals with dementia, developmental disabilities, and age-related health issues who need supervision and benefit from socialization and structured activities. A lively schedule of psychosocial activities alleviates the isolation and fear often experienced by those with dementia, which can manifest in depression and anxiety.
Transportation and Nutritious Meals
Transportation and nutritious meals are provided as well, and a registered nurse on staff monitors participants’ medications and health statuses. As important as the supervision and socialization provided for our participants is the respite and support afforded to their family caregivers. They have the time and peace of mind then to work or school or simply for hobbies and self-care. Bi-monthly support groups and periodic community education seminars on dementia and caregiver issues are offered, as well as resources and support in the form of one-on-one counseling.
Adult day services are an affordable alternative to costly in-home care and placement in residential care facilities, as well as allowing families to stay together and seniors to "age in community."
