Community Action Commission
The Community Action Commission of Santa Barbara County (CAC) is a nonprofit agency that has been helping people and changing lives for 44 years. Our mission is: Creating opportunities for Santa Barbara County families to achieve stability. CAC programs serve over 10,000 people per year and are organized within four core areas:
Santa Barbara County Family and Youth Services
specializes in reaching at-risk youth and families through a diverse group of programs addressing teen pregnancy, foster care, gang involvement, job training for youth, child abuse prevention and college access.
Children’s Services
include Head Start, Early Head Start and Child Development programs. Head Start offers full and part-day early education for children aged 0 to 5, services for pregnant women, parent education and involvement, and health and dental screening for children.
Nutrition Services
includes the Healthy Senior Lunch Program, Summer Food Service Program for children and youth, After School Snack Program, Back Door Deli and catering services.
Energy Services
helps low-income households stay safe and warm through weatherization, utility crisis assistance and gas appliance safety testing.
