About Fielding

Fielding Graduate University is an accredited nonprofit leader in blended graduate education, combining face?to?face and online learning. Our curriculum offers quality degrees and courses for professionals living and working anywhere in the world. Fielding’s faculty members represent a breadth of scholarship and practice within the fields of clinical psychology and media psychology, human and organizational development, and educational leadership and change. Maintaining Fielding’s reputation for quality programs faculty are mentors and guides to self?directed students who use their skills to become powerful, and socially?responsible leaders in their communities, workplaces, and society.

Fielding is headquartered in Santa Barbara, California, where it was founded in 1974. Core values of transformational learning and social justice are reflected in the research and professional practice of our students, faculty, and alumni. Our global, distributed community of professionals is dedicated to:
  • lifelong learning
  • social justice and innovation
  • advancement for individuals, organizations, communities, and society
The Fielding learning model differentiates us from most other universities enabling us to serve a diverse student population in specialized fields. Some of our master’s and advanced professional development programs are offered entirely online. Our doctoral programs use a distributed, or blended, format that is tailored to support students through:

  • face-to-face regional, research, and national sessions
  • independent study
  • online seminars
  • meetings with fellow students, faculty, and alumni

Fielding faculty members are practitioners as well as distinguished scholars in the varied academic fields represented within the three schools. They demonstrate passionate support of their students and a commitment to learning outcomes of the highest standards. Much of the faculty-student relationship is one-to-one, harkening back to the classical tutorial model. Faculty members become academic partners with students. They honor students’ prior experience and their intellectual, personal, and professional goals. The result is a collaborative learning experience that elicits creative solutions and enlightened practice.
